I flew down to Tampa recently to catch the Nuclear Cowboyz show. It's coming to Portland on March 24th, so I wanted to see whats up... and WOWOWOWOWOW.
As a kid I went to a lot of Monster Truck shows at Memorial Coliseum for birthday parties, this brought back all that joy. The Nuclear Cowboyz 2012 tour has the greatest cast of freestyle motocross, trials and quad riders ever assembled including recent X Games 17 medalists Mike Mason, Ronnie Faisst and Adam Jones with Taka Higashino, LOCAL RIDER Beau Bamburg and brothers Colton and Caleb Moore plus MORE. Such a great show for the family.. with all the Super Motorcross tricks and fun it also has an entertaining story:
Legendary Nuclear Cowboyz FMX tribes, the Soldiers of Havoc and the Metal Mulisha have returned for an action-packed North American tour, Nuclear Cowboyz 2012, taking place in the war torn city of Los Angeles during the year 2150.
The tale unfolds as the two tribes' survival is threatened and besieged by an evil force -- The Tempest and her electrifying Cyborg Army. Catapulted into the heart pounding fury and frenzied excitement are the sizzling Nuclear Cowgirlz, whose allegiance to their tribes only intensifies the Tempest's rage to destroy the Nuclear Cowboyz.

I love the Gorillaz so much I have the complete toy set. I know they are visually a fake band but Damon the lead singer is the only really face of the band and his cartoon is fake...but  the guitarist in this video might be the real Murdoc "Captain Hat". It seems kind of fitting with the way they got their name. I like mystery though, like Blink 182. No one ever asks how they got the name "BLINK" they are more wondering why 182? Is it the total count of F-bombs in Scarface, Mark's Ideal weight.... does it matter..how about U2 or Beastie Boys or even Jack Johnson...where did they get their names?

On the 23rd  is the awards gala for a photo contest fundraiser for MESD Outdoor School.  I loved outdoor school, it's was a crazy 6th grade but that was the thing you looked forward too. Like in 4th grade it was swim classes at the high school. You still have a couple days left in voting for the photo contest that the awards gala is for. Head on over to www.photooftheyear.net and vote. You can also buy tickets for the Awards Gala on the 23rd there also. SO.. I have photo's that are in the running for Photo of The Year!
I submitted 10 photo's this year and 5 made it. After not having anything make the next round the 2 last years I was surprised to see anything. It's not a big contest, don't get a new car or to meet the President but it's something. So I ask you to head over to Photooftheyear.net and vote for my photo's or any really. Just vote and come to the gala if you have the chance.
I'm as big as a blink 182 fan as you can be, way more of a fan then Greg is with Oasis or Gustav with Depeche Mode. Â I have met Mark and Tom a few times and seen them a lot in concert. I've also interviewed them in person and on the phone. I'm also a Vampire Weekend fan, at first I really didn't like them the video for A Punk just didn't set well with me but after hearing and playing many singles from them and having a good chat in their dressing room before 2008's December to Remember show things changed. You might be asking, GET TO THE POINT, well Tom Delonge from Blink 182 had a chat with the boys from Vampire weekend and I totally understand where he was coming and how they reacted. They are mellow and he is full of energy and crazy punk rock juice. I'm sure it was like Kelly Kapur talking to Toby from The Office about Glee. Crazy x10
